WetSide 2026/27 reopening and upcoming works - key dates:

From 9 September - Wednesday to Sunday:

Open: Main water play arena, Aqua Ninja and waterslides

Temporarily closed: TotSide is closed for repairs and will reopen once works are complete and the area is safe for visitors

September school holidays - 7 days a week:

Open: Main water play arena, Aqua Ninja and waterslides

Temporarily closed: TotSide closed for repairs

From 6 October to mid-November - Weekends only:

Open: Aqua Ninja and waterslides open on weekends 10am - 5pm

Temporarily closed: Main water play arena while its specialised soft-fall surface is replaced and TotSide for repairs

The works have been scheduled after the September school holidays and ahead of the busy Christmas period, based on the availability of specialist materials and accredited installers.

The main arena is expected to reopen by mid-November. We’ll keep this page updated as works progress.


WetSide Water Park is located on the foreshore at the junction of Main Street and the Esplanade, Hervey Bay and is a fun, family friendly public asset designed with something for everyone.

The park includes:

  • Water Slides
  • Aqua Ninja play area
  • Water play area (Main arena)
  • TotSide for under 5s play
  • Coffee shop and cafes adjacent

Entry to WetSide and Aqua Ninja is free, with waterslides costing $8 for 10 rides.

During Queensland state school holidays WetSide is open 7 days from 10am to 5pm (excluding June/July/Aug). Please see below operating hours outside of school holidays.

WetSide is closed for winter maintenance from May to September each year.

WetSide may close for reasons including maintenance or extreme weather.

PLEASE NOTE: Hire options involving the main arena will not be available while the renewal works are underway from 6 October to mid-November.

Rules for using the park

Remember the following:

  • Children under twelve (12) years of age must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible person over the age of 16 years of age.
  • Glass bottles or containers are prohibited.
  • Appropriate bathing costumes must be worn in the facility (babies must wear waterproof nappies).
  • All nappy changing must take place in the change facilities provided.
  • No animals are allowed into the Centre (not including nature wildlife in the area). Service dogs are an exception when provided certification. 
  • Use of objects such as inflatable toys, balls etc. is not permitted.
  • No alcohol is permitted on the premises.
  • No food or drink is permitted in water play areas.
  • No tables allowed.
  • No smoking, including vapes and e-cigarettes.
  • No climbing of whale feature or fencing.
  • No running.
  • No bikes, skates, scooters, rollerblades etc.
  • No swearing, rough play or bullying.
  • No loitering in change rooms.
  • Keep jets clear (never sit on jets).
  • Obey all signage and Staff member instructions at all times.
  • Obey the law.
  • Unacceptable behaviour may result in slide tickets being revoked and non refundable.

Rules for using the slides

  • It is not to be used by those who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Users must be 1.2m in height with no exception.
  • All riders are required to be able to ride and exit the slide unassisted.
  • Carer concessions unavailable due to slides being single rider only. Assistance upstairs is permitted.
  • One person only on each slide at any time.
  • Exit the slide runout as soon as possible.
  • Swimming attire is required. No heavy clothing or denim allowed.
  • No shoes/socks/footwear, hates, watches, anything else staff deem hazardous eg, claw hair clips.
  • No cameras, plaster casts, prosthetic limbs, googles/glasses or jewellery which may injure persons/damage the slide are allowed.
  • No running, standing, kneeling, rotating, tumbling or stopping during the slide.
  • Keep hands inside the slide during the ride.
  • Slide feet first at all times.
  • It is to be advised that the slides are not suitable for pregnant women, and people with limiting conditions including neck, back, joint and heart problems.
  • Patrons use the slides at their own risk.

Aqua Ninja play area

This unique, water-based obstacle course features nine linked challenges designed to test your strength, agility, co-ordination, and stamina.

Water jets and dumpers are activated as you work your way through the course.

But beware… it's not just the obstacles you’ll need to beat. Spectators can join the fun too, shooting water cannons to keep ninjas on their toes!

The Aqua Ninja Course is the first of its kind in Australia, made possible through Federal Government funding.

Rules for Aqua Ninja

  • Recommended minimum 8 years old and 140cm tall. Children must be closely supervised by a parent or guardian.
  • Swimming attire is required, clothing is ok to wear, baggy clothing not permitted.
  • Footwear optional (running or water shoes only).
  • No cameras, plaster casts, prosthetic limbs, goggles/glasses or jewellery which may injure persons/damage the adventure course are allowed.
  • It is to be advised that Aqua Ninja is not suitable for pregnant women, and people with limiting conditions including neck, back, joint and heart problems.
  • Not to be used by those who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Patrons use Aqua Ninja at their own risk.

Accessibility

Accessibility at WetSide Water Park
WetSide Water Park is a disability friendly facility, with accessible pathways throughout the park. Every area of WetSide is wheelchair accessible, aside from access to the slides and elevated slide areas.

Wheelchair Access
Wheelchairs are welcome throughout the facility, including within the arena area. Guests using wheelchairs can move through the main park areas and enjoy the water play spaces where suitable.

Slides and Elevated Areas
Access to the slides requires guests to use stairs. There is no wheelchair access to the top of the slides or elevated slide platforms.

Hoists and Lifting Equipment
WetSide Water Park does not have hoists or mechanical lifting equipment on site. Guests who require transfer assistance should attend with a carer or support person.

Accessible Facilities
WetSide provides accessible areas for guests, families, carers and support workers to enjoy the facility. Visitors are encouraged to plan their visit around their individual access needs.
