WasteID and On-Site Sewage Facilities (OSSFs)

Council uses WasteID to help manage on-site sewage facilities (OSSFs) across the region.

What is WasteID?

WasteID is a smart, digital system that helps Council and service agents keep track of OSSF service history and manufacturer details. Each property with an OSSF will receive a QR code sticker, placed inside the electricity meter box.

How does it work?

  • A Council officer will visit your property to place the sticker in your meter box.
  • Service agents can scan the QR code using a smartphone or tablet to view the system’s service history and details.
  • When the facility is serviced, agents can update the record in real time.

Why is this helpful?

  • For service agents: Free, instant access to system info and history.
  • For Council: Real-time service updates from the field.
  • For residents: Peace of mind that your system is tracked and up to date - without any extra cost.

Do I need to be home?

No - Council officers only need access to your electricity meter box.

If the meter box is locked or behind a gate, we’ll contact you to arrange access.

When is the QR code installed?

  • For new OSSFs, the QR sticker is installed during the final Council inspection.
  • For existing systems, we’ll install it after consulting with you.

Is there a cost?

Nope! It’s completely free for both residents and service agents.
