2023 Mobility Scooter and Wheelchair Convoy

Change of Date – New date, still as exciting as ever!
The Hervey Bay Safe Scooter Committee wishes to announce a slight detour on our Scooter/Wheelchair Convoy journey.
Due to a small hiccup in the event planning (we got a little too excited!), we have rescheduled the convoy from Saturday 2nd September to the following weekend, Saturday 9th September 2023.
Why the change, you ask? Well, it turns out that our event coincided with the fabulous Fraser Coast Flavours event, and we don't want to be scooting through delicious food stalls when everyone's tummies are rumbling, and attention is on all things culinary!
But fear not! The convoy will now take place on a brand-new date, giving us the perfect opportunity to ride through town in style without any culinary competition. We want to ensure our participants have a smooth ride, enjoying every moment of this record-breaking event. So, mark your calendars for Saturday 9th September and join us as we make history!
Speaking of records, did you know the current Australian Record recognized by The Australian Book of Records (TABOR) stands at 170 participants? We hold it and we are ready to build on it again this year! We're inviting you all to hop on your mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs, or even manual chairs, and join us on Saturday 9th September to smash that record in style!
Feeling creative? This is your chance to show off your imagination! Decorate yourself or your ride in a theme that truly suits your personality. If you prefer to go wild with your fashion sense, just don a crazy, eye-catching decorated hat to be in the running for a fantastic prize!
But wait, there's more! Get your friends together and form a group to increase your chances of winning the coveted trophy for the largest registered group in attendance. So, when you register, be sure to let us know if you're bringing your whole squad along!
Safety first! The convoy aims to spread awareness about the responsible use of mobility vehicles, especially in public spaces. And guess what? We'll achieve this noble mission in an atmosphere brimming with fun and social connections!

Time: Registrations start at 8 am
Location: Scarness Park
Route: Down the Esplanade, past the playgrounds and skate park, and back to Scarness Park for the ultimate celebration!
What to expect: Entertainment galore and a free sausage sizzle for all participants!
Bring your family and friends to cheer us on from the sidelines as we ride through the town like a colourful, joyous parade. And hey, if you think your town has what it takes to outshine us, we challenge you to host your own convoy and aim for a new Australian Record!
