Road Closures

Sandpiper Street between Curlew Terrace and Turnstone Boulevard - 16-18 February 2026

Council will be undertaking road pavement maintenance works in Sandpiper Street between Curlew Terrace and Turnstone Boulevard on 16-18 February 2026, between the hours of 6.30 am and 4.30 pm, weather permitting.

To ensure a safe working environment, Sandpiper Street between Curlew Terrace and Turnstone Boulevard will be fully closed whilst the works are completed. Local traffic and bus access will be permitted whilst the full road closure is in place through the use of on-site traffic controllers.

Council apologises for the inconveniences caused relating to these temporary road closures and thanks you in anticipation of your understanding and cooperation during the course of this work.

Astro Drive, Urangan - Temporary road and footpath closure from 1 July 2024

Astro Drive Urangan, will be temporarily closed from the intersection of John Duigan Drive to End. This will be closed to vehicular traffic until future development within the site occurs.

Sorrensons Road, Nikenbah - Culvert Replacement
24 February to 6 March 2026

Works to replace the culvert on Sorrensons Road, Nikenbah are scheduled from 24 February to 6 March 2026.

To complete this work, Sorrensons Road will be fully closed near the culvert work area during this time.

William Street, Howard - Road widening, kerb and channel and footpath construction works
Mid March to end of April (weather and delivery conditions permitting)

To allow for the completion of road widening, kerb and channel and footpath construction works on the eastern side of William Street, Howard (end of path construction to Annie Street) the following changed traffic conditions will be implemented.   

• 10/2/26 – 2/3/26 - Footpath works
  Shoulder closure only (two-way traffic maintained)
  
  
•  2/3/26 – 17/3/26 - Kerb and channel works (excavation)
  Lateral shift of traffic (two-way traffic maintained)
  
  

•  17/3/26 – 25/3/26 - Kerb and channel works (pouring concrete and base with concrete truck)
  Half road closure (sectional one lane, one-way arrangement with detour in place)

• 25/3/26 – 30/4/26 - Roadworks in front of Kerb including seal
  Half road closure (sectional one lane, one-way arrangement with detour in place)

Half road closures may also be required for short periods of time at other times as part of the delivery of this project.

Emergency Bridge Maintenance Works - Powell Creek Bridge - 17-20 February 2026

Emergency maintenance work is required on Powell Creek Bridge on Old Gayndah Road due to damage to the bridge support.

To complete these works, the bridge will be fully closed from 2:30pm on 17 February until approximately 3:00pm on 20 February 2026, weather permitting.

Detours during the closure:

• Residents north of the bridge:
  Detoured down Musket Flat Road (unsealed Road) which turns into Old Gayndah Road (unsealed road) then onto Maryborough-Biggenden Road.

• Residents south of the bridge:
  Detoured down North Aramara Road onto Maryborough-Biggenden Rd and onto Old Gayndah Road.
