Mary to Bay Rail Trail section opening (Takura to Colton)
All are welcome to come and celebrate!
On Saturday, 26 August 2023, 11km of the rail corridor will be officially opened at Takura Trailhead, corner of Leos and Torbanlea-Pialba Road, Walligan.
From Takura almost to Colton, this lengthy section has been established by volunteers with grant funding from Fraser Coast Regional Council and the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
Surrounded by forest and wallum ecology, the Trail is shaded and features unique native plants and birdlife. Six bridges have been preserved, with ramps constructed around them, so Trail users can appreciate the engineering skills. Spectacular native flora displays will be on show too.
PROGRAM
8.30am - Cyclists and walkers set off to sample the Trail
9.30am - Food and drink available (cash only)
11am - Official opening by Bruce Saunders MP
11.30am - Horse riders set off on Trail
2pm - Event concludes
