Dog off leash

Three new dog off-leash parks will be developed on the Fraser Coast.

The off-leash areas will be built at Bernard Corser Park in Maryborough, Brendan Hansen Park in Granville, and Petersen Park in Craignish.

Council will continue its investigation into developing a facility at Point Vernon.

“Off-leash areas provide the opportunity for dogs to play, exercise and socialise leash-free with other dogs and dog park visitors,” Cr Paul Truscott said.

“Council provides 18 fenced and unfenced dog off-leash areas across the Fraser Coast, which can include a range of facilities such as seating, water, dog waste bins, litter bag dispensers and agility equipment.

“There was widespread community support for Council to develop these new facilities across the region, and I’m sure they will prove popular when completed in the coming months.”

At the meeting, Council also formally designated its off-leash area so they comply with the administrative requirements of Local Law 2.
