Adelaide Street road works swap sides

Works on the Adelaide Street Revitalisation Project in Maryborough will swap over from the western side to the eastern side from today.

Fraser Coast Councillor Daniel Sanderson said the changeover of works between Ellena and Alice streets meant the traffic flow arrangement would also change.

“When driving in the Maryborough CBD from today, please keep in mind the changed traffic flow,” Cr Sanderson said.

“Council thanks residents and visitors for their co-operation and understanding as the project is undertaken,” Cr Daniel Sanderson said.

With the change, works will revert to nightworks:

  • Adelaide Street will be closed to through traffic during the night (6pm to 6am);
  • Daytime traffic (6am to 6pm) will be reduced to one-way traffic headed in a north-bound direction, i.e. one way for traffic travelling from Alice to Ellena Streets during the Stage 2 daytime works (eastern side).

The Adelaide Street Revitalisation Project, Ellena to Alice streets, includes the replacement of footpaths, upgrading of underground water mains, full width road asphalt overlay and installation of new street furniture.

This $3 million project, an initiative of the Queensland Government as part of the Works for Queensland program, is being undertaken by local company SGQ.

Member for Maryborough Bruce Saunders said it was terrific to see the Adelaide Street revitalisation project was progressing well and taking the next step in the construction phase.

“Maryborough is benefiting greatly from Queensland’s plan for economic recovery, you can’t drive through Maryborough without seeing it.

 “Thank you to everyone for their patience as we deliver the upgrade to renew Adelaide Street and deliver local jobs.”
