Walking tours resume and local attractions open for longer

The search is on to find a new Maryborough storyteller, or storytellers.

“A unique opportunity has opened up for someone, male or female, to bring the stories of Maryborough to life,” Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said.

“We’re looking for people who have a passion for Maryborough and bringing its many facets to life as a tour guide escorting everyone from school children to VIPs around the city.

“The stories are wide and varied from the early days of settlement and the characters which inhabited the port to the Inspector of Nuisances or Maryborough as the birthplace of Mary Poppins author PL Travers.

“The stories and characters that could be developed are limitless and will join the list of loved characters such as Mary Heritage, the Park Keeper and the Customs Master.

Prospective storytellers will need to supply a video of a short story performance and the interview for the shortlisted applicants will include an audition.

Applications close on June 21. More details are available in the job vacancies section on the Council website at https://www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/working-for-council/current-vacancies
