The Queensland Government’s regional Cabinet meeting in Hervey Bay later this month will provide a golden opportunity for Council and the community to speak to decision makers face-to-face and showcase the region, Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said today.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today announced that the Queensland Cabinet would meet in Hervey Bay on Monday 20 September 2021.

Cr Seymour welcomed the upcoming Cabinet visit and said Council looked forward to continuing its close collaboration with the Queensland Government.

“Our Council is committed to working with all levels of government to build better communities together,” he said.

“We are very grateful to the Queensland Government for helping us deliver important local projects, with more than $16 million allocated to the Fraser Coast under the latest round of the Works for Queensland program just one example.

“This regional Cabinet meeting will provide an opportunity for Ministers to see first-hand the difference this support makes and to understand what our region’s priorities are for the future.

“As more people realise the Fraser Coast is one of the best places in the world to live, work and play, we are experiencing a property and construction boom unlike anything we have seen in decades.

“With that growing population comes a need for more services from all levels of government.

“The Fraser Coast region boasts a unique lifestyle and beautiful natural environment, with our Council keen to work with the Queensland Government to make the most of our competitive advantages and grow a strong, diversified local economy.”
