Queens Road water main replacement and roadwork

A section of water main and Queens Road will be replaced as part of a $1.9 million project in Hervey Bay.

“The project will replace the water main and rebuild Queens Road from Boat Harbour Drive to Torquay Road,” Councillor David Lee said.

“The project was identified for as part of Council’s road reconstruction prioritisation process due to the road’s current poor condition.

“Council considered feedback from residents as part of the prioritisation process.

“It is a good time to replace the aging water main while the road is being dug up.”

The project has been awarded to JAC Civil and anticipated to start in February and finish in June, weather permitting.

“Queens Road is a major access to the CBD, Police Station and the Esplanade,” Cr Lee said.

“We apologise for the inconvenience, and ask motorists, where possible to avoid the road and intersection of Queens Road and Torquay Road.’

During the work traffic will be restricted to one-way traffic in one lane travelling south (from the Esplanade towards Boat Harbour Drive).
