‘Connect with nature’ through local environmental events

Back

A birdwatching workshop, a photo competition and a guided night walk through the region’s newest environmental reserve are among a range of free events being hosted by the Fraser Coast Regional Council this month.

Cr Jade Wellings said Council sought to play its part in preserving, protecting and managing the Fraser Coast’s environment through a range of strategies, programs and educational events. “The Fraser Coast is home to some beautiful and unique plants and animals, and we want to encourage residents to connect with nature,” she said. “The events being held throughout August offer something for everyone, and we encourage residents to make the most of this opportunity to increase their understanding and enjoyment of our wonderful natural environment here on the Fraser Coast.”

The August environmental events follow on from National Tree Day on 31 July, where community members joined with Council to plant about 600 native trees in Kawungan. Almost 47,000 trees have now been planted towards Council’s goal of planting 100,000 trees by 2030.
