Gardeners needed for 2023 Maryborough Open Gardens

Gardeners of Maryborough and surrounding areas are being invited to open their gates to the public for the city’s annual Open Garden event on the weekend of August 26 and 27.  

“Gardening sooths the soul,” Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said.

“Maryborough is home to some of the most wonderful gardens in the state, ranging from the historic Queen Park Botanical Garden, one of the first in Australia, to the Pocket Garden at the Story Bank in Kent Street.

“It is so wonderful that the gardens open up, to share their gardens with others; not just green thumbs, but people like me, non-gardeners who really admire their work.

“They are truly an inspiration and visiting them will give you ideas of things to try at your home, or just allow you to relax and enjoy the views.”

Maryborough Open Gardens is a fantastic event where gardeners share their love of horticulture and open their gardens for visitors to enjoy and be inspired.

This year new gardens have been added to the list and once again the historic Baddow House garden will be open on Saturday 26 August.

The gardens range from traditional and sculpture gardens to lovely spaces where you can relax and enjoy unique gardens and activities, he said.

Unlike other Open Garden events, there is no entry fee to visit the Maryborough Open Gardens which makes the gardens accessible for all to enjoy. This is largely in part due to the support of Fraser Coast Regional Council and Fraser Coast Tourism and Events.

Town gardens will open on Saturday, August 26, and country gardens on Sunday, August 27.
