If your garbage day wasn’t exciting enough, it is about to be taken to a whole new level of joy.

New and improved kerbside collection trucks are headed to the Fraser Coast and with them come 16 new educational waste monsters.

The monsters look like a mixed bag of personalities, but they have one thing in common - they are serious about waste and recycling.

Each monster has their own mission to inspire the community to dispose of waste responsibly, and where possible, increase recycling and reuse or reduce waste that makes its way to landfill.

Deputy Mayor Paul Truscott said the new trucks mark the start of a 10-year contract with Cleanaway.

“The new fleet are designed to improve safety and increase efficiency,” he said.

“It is fantastic to see the new waste and recycling trucks roll out to improve service to our community.”

Cleanaway will also be reviewing routes and collection schedules to ensure reliable and efficient kerbside waste services.

“As a result of this review, one third of households will soon have either a new bin collection day, a change of recycling week or a combination of both,” Cr David Lee said.

“Properties affected by the change will be notified in coming weeks, so please keep an eye on your letterbox and inbox.”

To celebrate the launch of the new trucks, Council is running a colouring-in competition and giving away an Apple iPad, worm farm and reusable super pack.

Anyone aged 12-years and under can enter by choosing 1 of 3 characters to colour-in and return to a Customer Service Centre before July 10.

Colouring-in sheets are available to download online, along with a ‘Collect a Truck’ bingo card that you can use to spot all 16 monster trucks with your family.
