Christmas Lights

It’s time to untangle the fairy lights and start planning your Christmas lights display!

Fraser Coast residents lighting up their homes for Christmas are encouraged to let Council know so their display can be part of the 2023 Christmas Lights Trail.

Mayor George Seymour said Christmas lights displays were an important part of our festive season celebrations.

“A record number of 155 Fraser Coast homes and businesses put their Christmas lights displays on the maps in 2022,” he said.

“We also had 12 streets in the running for Christmas Street, which Kingfisher Drive in Oakhurst won for the third year in a row.

“I spent several nights travelling around the region to judge Christmas Street and I was amazed at the quality of the presentations and the time and effort people put into their displays.

“If you’re decorating this year and want to be part of the 2023 Christmas Lights Trail, we’d love to hear from you.”

To be part of the 2023 Christmas Lights Trail, fill in the online registration form that is available at www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/festive

Residents can also ring Council on 1300 79 49 29 to ask a Customer Service Officer to help them fill in the online form.

Council will create an interactive online map of the lights displays, which will be available on its website from early December.

Residents can also get together to have a go at taking out the coveted Christmas Street award, with a minimum of three houses needed to register.

The winning street is presented with the ‘Christmas Street’ sign to be displayed under their street sign for the next year.

Registrations for the 2023 Christmas Lights Trail close at 5pm on Wednesday 22 November to give Council time to create the maps to be available from early December.
