Try And Apply Days: Dive into a career with Council

Fraser Coast residents looking to dive into a career with Council are encouraged to attend a ‘Try And Apply Day’ at the Hervey Bay or Maryborough Aquatic Centre next month.

Fraser Coast Regional Council Director Strategy, Development and Community Gerard Carlyon said this was a great opportunity for residents to talk to staff about all the career opportunities currently available at our aquatic centres.

“Staff are needed at WetSide Water Park, and the Hervey Bay and Maryborough Aquatic Centres across various roles including lifeguards, swimming instructors, and shift supervisors,” said Mr Carlyon.

“We are looking for fit and motivated people who can gain valuable lifeguarding, CPR and first aid qualifications to benefit you beyond the poolside.

“You don’t have to be young, athletic, or an advanced swimmer to be a lifeguard.  Our lifeguards span from teenagers to over 60 years old.  The hours are flexible and it’s a great way to earn some extra cash.

“Your journey at the Aquatic Centre doesn't have to end with lifeguarding. You'll have opportunities for career growth and to advance through various roles within the Aquatic Centre team and beyond.

The ‘Try And Apply Days’ are being held at

• Maryborough Aquatic Centre, Monday 3 June 2024, 1pm to 3:30pm;
• Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre, Wednesday 5 June 2024, 1pm to 3:30pm

“These information sessions will provide a valuable opportunity to tour our facilities, talk to current staff and learn more about the jobs available,” Mr Carlyon said.

“Potential candidates will be able to book an interview from a list of available dates and receive information about upcoming Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR Training courses.”
