Elizabeth Park Rose Gardens Zonta Memorial

This plaque is in memory of Maryborough murder victim Linda Lovett, who died after being stabbed in a motel room on November 3, 2018.

On that day, Linda, who was born in Thailand, suffered 26 stab wounds but fought to protect herself from the man who had terrorised her before she succumbed to her wounds just after escaping the motel room.

To honour her memory, the Fraser Coast Regional Council, Fraser Coast Chronicle and Zonta Maryborough came together to erect this plaque so Linda will always be remembered.

Her job as a sex worker made her vulnerable, stigmatised her and made her an invisible victim.

This plaque will ensure Linda’s story is never forgotten.
