Description

Stockyard Creek Reserve boasts 41.48 acres of natural area located in Walligan.

Bird species were identified on the land with the most significant species being the glossy black-cockatoo listed as a vulnerable species under the Nature Conservation Act 1992. This species is dependant on the presence of extensive numbers of Allocasuarina littoralis casuarina trees which provide its main source of food. These are present on the land however further restoration of vegetation will assist with increasing habitat for this species.

Koalas have been identified at this site. Ground dwelling and arboreal mammals are well represented in the adjoining remnants including Vernon Conservation Reserve and Council reserves. Stockyard Creek reserve has the potential to provide an important link in a local koala corridor.

Stockyard Creek Reserve is located off Old Walligan Road, Walligan.
