The Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens wedding area is being upgraded to provide a beautiful, all-weather space for events and celebrations.
The wedding area at the Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens, next to the Chinese Garden, is getting upgraded. The main improvement will be adding a paved surface to make it suitable for use all year round.
The upgrade will meet the growing demand for bookable event spaces, like weddings and graduation photos. The paved surface will make the area easier to use and maintain, especially under the canopy cover where grass used to need frequent replanting.
The work will start in the week of September 30, 2024, and should be finished by the end of November 2024, depending on the weather.
A local contractor will carry out the project.
The upgrade is budgeted at $75,000, funded through the 2024/25 Council capital program.
The upgrade will improve the wedding area, making it more accessible and enjoyable for events. It will also help preserve the beauty of the Botanic Gardens and provide a better experience for visitors and the community.
