Scarness Park Rotunda Refurbishment

What’s happening

The rotunda in Scarness Park is being refurbished because the timber is rotting and needs to be replaced. The work includes fixing the structure, replacing the roof, and repainting.

Why

An inspection in September 2024 found major timber rot, including in the supports for the decking and railings. The repairs will make the rotunda safe and allow it to reopen for community use.

When

Work will start on Friday, 14 March 2025, with fencing and scaffolding going up first. The roofing company will begin work on Monday, 17 March 2025, and the project should be finished by the end of April 2025, depending on the weather.

Who’s doing the work

The Council’s Building Services Team is leading the project, with a roofing company handling the roof repairs.

How much will it cost

The project will cost $55,000.

Community impact

The work will improve the rotunda so the community can use it again. Local businesses and Council’s Events Team have been consulted to help minimise any disruptions.
