Kangaroos
By watching the animals that live near you, you can learn to identify individuals by their appearance. You will also start to work out the relationships between individuals and be able to follow the birth and growth of each new generation of joeys.
The Eastern grey kangaroo is one of Australia’s iconic marsupials. They are found in a wide range of habitats from scrub through to woodlands, farmlands and urban grass areas. You can usually see them resting in the shade or shelter of trees to avoid the hottest part of the day or grazing on grasses at dawn/dusk. The Eastern grey kangaroo is protected by law.
The swamp wallaby is a small and stocky marsupial that prefers the habitat of dense forests and woodlands. They feed on a variety of plants including ferns, grasses and shrubs. Swamp wallabies are solitary animals, feeding mostly and dawn and dusk.
