Two popular Maryborough playgrounds will be given a makeover.

Work has started on replacing the equipment in the playground at Queens Park, Maryborough.

“It is anticipated that the park will be closed for the next three weeks, weather permitting, as the equipment is replaced,” Cr Daniel Sanderson said.

“The park is very popular, especially with parents of younger children as it is fenced.

“I believe the new equipment is eagerly anticipated, especially as parents had a hand in selecting the new playground through feedback via Council’s website and our Facebook page.”

“The new equipment includes a new multi-stage climbing frame, see-saw, swing and softfall.

“Council anticipates the playground at Queens Park will be closed for three weeks while the $85,000 upgrade is undertaken.”

Meanwhile, the skate park at Anzac Park will be closed for two weeks from Monday, March 8, for repairs to be carried out on the concrete surface.

“The concrete surface is showing signs of wear,” Cr Paul Truscott said.

“To ensure the safety of skaters and scooter riders, cracks and other breaks in the concrete skating surface will be filled.

“We anticipate that the $28,000 project will take two weeks to complete, weather permitting.”
