Support available for people impacted by the floods

Our thoughts go out to the many people across our region whose lives and livelihoods have been impacted by the flood event. Please SEE BELOW for support available to businesses and individuals in need.

Assistance for individuals:

Personal Hardship Assistance
is now available for communities impacted by recent flooding. Grant applications can be made online through the Community Recovery portal at www.qld.gov.au/community/disasters-emergencies/disasters/money-finance/eligibility-apply/ex-tropical-cyclone-seth-january-2022 

Residents without internet access can ring the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349 to get information or apply for grants and access to support services.

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment

The Australian Government has also announced support for people affected by the flooding in Queensland, including our Fraser Coast region.  Adults are eligible for $1,000 and $400 for children. Essential Services Safety and Reconnection

Financial assistance is available to individuals and families to contribute towards safety inspections of and repairs to residential essential services (i.e. electricity, gas, water and sewerage) damaged by an eligible disaster. Contact 1800 173 349 or visit www.chde.qld.gov.au


Assistance for primary producers:

Primary producers across the region impacted by the recent ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth rainfall event can apply for natural disaster recovery assistance. For more information or to apply visit qrida.qld.gov.au or free call 1800 623 946.

Freight Subsidies for Primary Producers are also available to assist primary producers impacted by an eligible disaster with the transport of livestock, fodder or water for livestock, building, fencing equipment or machinery to the primary producer’s home property. Assistance for small business:

Disaster Assistance for Small Businesses is available at www.business.qld.gov.au/running-business/protecting-business/disaster-resilience/assistance or calling the 1800 623 946.

Fraser Coast businesses can also contact the Council’s Economic Development team for assistance on 1300 79 49 29.

Telstra has announced an assistance package for residential and small business customers who have lost services due to the flooding in Maryborough and surrounding areas. Please call 1800 888 888 to find out how Telstra can help.


Assistance for sporting clubs and organisations:

Disaster recovery funding is available for eligible sporting clubs and organisations. More information can be found here: www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/disaster-recovery
