Fraser Coast residents affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth are encouraged to attend flood recovery community information sessions in Maryborough and Teebar next week to find out more about what support is available to them.

Deputy Mayor Darren Everard said while a lot of clean-up work and urgent infrastructure repairs had been carried out in recent weeks, the region’s recovery would be a long process that would continue for many months.

“Our thoughts go out to the many people whose lives and livelihoods were affected by the flooding caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth,” he said.

“With a range of different support measures and financial assistance available from the different levels of government, Council is co-ordinating community information sessions to assist those affected by the recent flooding to navigate all the various options.

“These information sessions provide an opportunity to speak directly with representatives from Local, State and Australian Government agencies, as well as support organisations.

“The sessions are particularly targeted at primary producers, businesses and not-for-profit groups, but anyone affected is welcome to attend.”

The flood recovery community information sessions are being held at:

•    Maryborough City Hall Reception Room, Wednesday 16 February 2022, 4pm – 7pm (enter near the Visitors Information Centre);
•    Teebar Hall, Thursday 17 February 2022, 10am – 2pm.

The sessions being held next week follow a similar information session held in Tiaro last month.
