Night works are the order of the day in Lennox Street

Stormwater pipes under the western side of Lennox Street will be replaced in coming weeks with the work occurring at night to minimise the impact on residents and businesses.

“The $1.1million Council project will occur in Lennox Street between Alice and Ellena streets. It will complete the replacement of drainage infrastructure from Kent Street to Alice Street,” Cr Daniel Sanderson said.

“The work was identified during our annual inspection program which indicated that the system was failing.

It is anticipated that the work will start this year and take 14 weeks to complete.

Cr Sanderson said every effort would be made to keep the footpaths open and traffic flowing during the project.

“To lessen the impact on businesses, as much of the work as possible will be undertaken at night (6pm and 6am),” he said.

“The aim is for Lennox Street to remain open at night but reduced to one-lane and one-way for south bound vehicles. Provision will be made for access to restaurants and businesses operating after hours.

“Lennox Street will revert to two-way traffic during the day. Ellena Street will remain open during night works.”
