Boonooroo erosion

Rock-filled bags will be used as part of a temporary emergency erosion control on a 25-metre section of the Boonooroo Esplanade near Bates Street.

“The $150,000 project will protect essential road infrastructure ensuring we can protect and preserve access to people’s homes,” Cr Daniel Sanderson said.

“The work will include removing broken concrete and existing rocks, reprofiling the bank and laying geofabric and installing the rock-filled bags.

“We anticipate that the work will start in March 2022 and be finished in April, weather and tides permitting.”

Council will continue to investigate long-term options to address future coastal erosion in this location through the implementation of the Coastal Hazard Adaption Strategy.
