Sport and Rec grants

Local sport and recreation groups will be able to buy new or improved equipment thanks to the Fraser Coast Regional Council’s Sport and Recreation Equipment Grants program.

“The grants will help groups not able to fundraise due to COVID-19 or who were affected by the recent floods,” Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said.

“Sport and active recreation groups can apply for grants up to $500 to purchase equipment which in turn improves their capacity to stage events and improves the accessibility of sport and recreation groups to all residents.

“The funds can be used to buy items such as playing shirts, balls, nets, training equipment and other small pieces of equipment.”

Round 2 for 2021/22 opens on Monday, 25 April 2022. Applications will be assessed each week and the round will close as soon as the available funds have been expended, or 3pm on the May 20 (whichever comes first).

“The grants help Council ensure that the Fraser Coast has a diverse and strong sporting community,” Cr Seymour said.

“Sport and active recreation groups play a vital role in providing avenues to increase participation in physical activity and improve the health and wellbeing of residents.”

More information on the grants is available on the grant page of the Council webpage www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/grants

To further help groups, Council’s Community Grants Officers and Sport and Recreation Officer will be able to assist groups to develop and submit applications.
