Bin collection days changing on the Fraser Coast

Changes to garbage and recycling routes across the Fraser Coast will improve efficiency with fewer truck movements on our roads which helps cut greenhouse gases.

The kerbside collections for about a third of Fraser Coast residents will change as rubbish and recycling collection routes are adjusted to keep pace with housing growth.

“Council’s waste collection contractor, Cleanaway, has reviewed its routes and schedules to ensure our growing community continues to receive a reliable and efficient service,” Cr Zane O’Keefe said.

“For two thirds of Fraser Coast households, nothing will change, and bins will be collected on the same days.

“However, about one third of households will soon have either a new bin collection day, a change of recycling week or a combination of both.

“Residents affected by the change have been notified by direct mail or email and a reminder tag will be placed on their bin.

“To make sure everything goes smoothly, there will also be a two-week transition period where bins will be collected on the new day as well as the old day just to make sure no one is missed.

“To ease into the new routes, the changeover will occur in stages across the region over several weeks starting from July 18.

“If you want to check out your bin collection day, Council has developed a new webpage - www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/bin-collection - which has an interactive map where residents can enter their addresses to find out their bin collection days.

“While Cleanaway will have more trucks and drivers in their fleet as a result of the changes, the new routes and schedules will mean collections will be more efficient with fewer truck movements on our roads, which helps cut our greenhouse gases.

“We thank residents for their understanding and assistance in ensuring local waste collection services are as efficient and reliable as possible.”
