Bin collection days have changed on the Fraser Coast
The new collection days for the kerbside collection of rubbish and recycling on the Fraser Coast will be phased in from today (Monday July 18).
“If your collection day is going to change, you would have by now received a notice in the mail and had a reminder notice on your bin,” Cr Darren Everard said.
“Only about a third of households will see a change.
“You can easily check to see if your bin collection day has changed by entering your address in the interactive map at www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/bin-collection.”
The changes are part of a project to improve the efficiency of the collection program and keep pace with residential growth.
“An added bonus is the changes will enable us to cut the number of truck movements which helps cut greenhouse gasses,” Cr Everard said.
“Council’s waste collection contractor, Cleanaway, has reviewed its routes and schedules to ensure our growing community continues to receive a reliable and efficient service.
“As a result, from today (Monday July 18) about one third of households will have either a new bin collection day, a change of recycling week or a combination of both.
“To ensure a smooth changeover there will also be a two-week transition period where bins will be collected on the new day as well as the old day just to make sure no one is missed.
“To ease into the new routes, the changeover will occur in stages across the region over several weeks starting from today (Monday July 18).
“We thank residents for their understanding and assistance in ensuring local waste collection services are as efficient and reliable as possible.”
