Developing Glenwood community garden is a highlight of the Glenwood Community Plan endorsed by Fraser Coast Regional Council.

“The plan, developed by residents sets a vision and direction for the future of the Glenwood community for the next 20 years,” Cr Phil Truscott said.

“It will be great tool to outline their vision and aspirations for governments and service providers which are involved in its development.”

The plan was developed through a community engagement process facilitated by the Fraser Coast Regional Council.

Other goals contained in the plan include the installation of community notice boards on all three entrances and developing a program of events throughout the year.

“The plan is a living document”, Cr Truscott said.

“It will be updated to keep pace with the changing needs of the community as the community grows and milestones are reached.

“While the plan will be driven by the community, Council will work hand in hand with the Community Plan Development group and associated project teams to support the facilitation of projects.”

In 2021 the population of Glenwood was about 1,925 and it is expected to grow to reach 2,520 people by 2041.

“As the demographics change so will the community focus,” Cr Truscott said.

“While retirees, empty nesters and older families make up the bulk of the population (45%) there are still many young families (36%).”

The plan can be viewed on the publications page of the Council website at www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/publications.
