Fraser Coast Libraries is looking for a new design of its library cards and is asking creative local youngsters to put forward ideas.

“This is a terrific chance for youngsters to show their creativity,” Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said.

“The library card design contest is open to Fraser Coast Libraries members aged up to 17 years.

“Artists are not constrained by a theme, so they are free to create an original design of their choosing using any colours.

“We do, however, advise entrants not to use plain lead pencils, light sketching, or fluorescent colours as these do not reproduce well.”

Cr Seymour said library users will have a say in who wins the library card design competition through a public vote to choose the top three finalists in three age categories: 0 to 5 years, 6 to 12 years and 13 to 17 years.

“The ultimate winners will be chosen by library staff and the winning entries will be printed on library cards which will be available to new library members at the Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Tiaro, Howard and Burrum Heads branches later this year,” he said.

“Winners will also receive a $50 Fraser Coast Open for Business Gift Card. The cards are accepted at more than 200 stores and venues across the Fraser Coast.”

Entry forms are available at Fraser Coast Libraries branches and online by visiting the Fraser Coast Libraries website or Facebook page - www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/design-bookmark

“Entries can be submitted at any library branch by close of business on Saturday, October 1,” Cr Seymour said.

“If your youngsters are not already members of Fraser Coast Libraries, it’s free to join and free to enter the competition.”

The winners will be announced in November.
