Lisa Curry to headline Libraries ‘Lines in the Sand’ event
Olympic swimmer Lisa Curry will reflect on her amazing life and the experiences that shaped her when she speaks at the Fraser Coast Libraries Lines in the Sand Premier Event later this year.
Fraser Coast Regional Councillor David Lewis said a year-long program of speakers had been planned for Lines in the Sand culminating in a premier event on 7 and 8 October 2023.
“Council’s Lines in the Sand program aims to inspire readers and writers from all over the region, providing an opportunity to listen to and ask questions of published authors and to attend workshops to get the creative juices flowing,” he said.
“The Lines in the Sand Premier Event in October will feature a weekend of author talks and writing workshops in Hervey Bay and Maryborough.
“We are pleased to announce this year’s line-up includes Olympic and Commonwealth Games swimmer Lisa Curry - whose bestselling memoir was released last year, prize-winning Australian novelist and journalist Matthew Condon and prolific international author Jan-Andrew Henderson.
“I encourage everyone to save the date as the Lines in the Sand Premier Event promises to be a fascinating weekend with three diverse and interesting speakers.”
Cr Lewis said speakers were planned for other local celebrations throughout the year, including NAIDOC, Coalfest, the Mary Poppins Festival, the Whale Festival and during school holidays.
“Keep an eye on Fraser Coast Libraries’ ‘What’s On’ page https://www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/whats-on as bookings go live around four to six weeks before an event,” he said.
“Alternatively, subscribe to the Fraser Coast Libraries newsletter ‘Check it Out’ to be the first to know about the latest events.”
