Reignite your expertise!

That’s the call from Fraser Coast Regional Council to retired professionals in the area.

Fraser Coast Regional Council CEO Ken Diehm said Council was seeking expressions of interest from retired professionals and technical experts keen to take on short-term contracts to deliver important community projects and services.

“Like many employers, Council is being impacted by labour shortages, particularly in technical areas requiring specific skill sets such as engineering, town planning, civil design, information technology, project management, and building and regulatory compliance,” he said.

“We recognise that retirees have specialised knowledge and expertise in their respective fields, and they have excellent problem-solving skills from their years of experience.

“With the Fraser Coast growing rapidly, we recognise the need to tap into the expertise of professionals who may have retired to live in the region.

“The ‘Reignite Your Expertise’ campaign is about encouraging retirees to come back into the workforce for a short period of time to help us deliver important projects for the community and to mentor the next generation of workers.

“We are passionate about attracting excellence, and we know that retired professionals and technical experts have a wealth of experience they can draw on to guide and mentor other workers.

“There is great potential for knowledge transfer from retirees, which can help bridge the skills gap and develop the next generation of professionals within Council.

“By joining our Council team, retirees with professional and technical expertise will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of key projects, while also leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.”
