PUBLIC NOTICE
Local Law 4 (local Government Controlled Area, Facilities and Roads) 2011
Proposal
- Fraser Coast Regional Council (“Council”) is proposing in accordance with Section 8(3)(b) of Local Law 4 to permanently close a local government-controlled area to public access for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of members of the public.
- The area proposed for closure is an approximate 5.7-hectare section of the reserve for Lake Lenthall (Lot 1/SP159827), immediately downstream of the Lenthalls Dam – please see attached aerial image.
Purpose
- To discourage members of the public from accessing a dangerous area, where large volumes of water are released suddenly causing dangerous flow conditions and flooding.
- Enable Council to undertake a program of compliance for members of the public that continue to access the area despite repeated warnings.
Notice Period
- Submissions are invited in response to the proposed closure of the local government-controlled area by 24 November 2023.
- Submissions must be made in writing and be provided via email to enquiry@frasercoast.qld.gov.au.
- Please note that submissions will only be considered that relate to the proposed closure, and provide reasonable grounds, facts, and circumstances in support of the submission.
- No acknowledgement will be issued on receipt of submissions.
