PUBLIC NOTICE

Local Law 4 (local Government Controlled Area, Facilities and Roads) 2011

Proposal

  1. Fraser Coast Regional Council (“Council”) is proposing in accordance with Section 8(3)(b) of Local Law 4 to permanently close a local government-controlled area to public access for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of members of the public.
  2. The area proposed for closure is an approximate 5.7-hectare section of the reserve for Lake Lenthall (Lot 1/SP159827), immediately downstream of the Lenthalls Dam – please see attached aerial image.

Purpose

  1. To discourage members of the public from accessing a dangerous area, where large volumes of water are released suddenly causing dangerous flow conditions and flooding.
  2. Enable Council to undertake a program of compliance for members of the public that continue to access the area despite repeated warnings.

Notice Period

  1. Submissions are invited in response to the proposed closure of the local government-controlled area by 24 November 2023.
  2. Submissions must be made in writing and be provided via email to enquiry@frasercoast.qld.gov.au.
  3. Please note that submissions will only be considered that relate to the proposed closure, and provide reasonable grounds, facts, and circumstances in support of the submission.
  4. No acknowledgement will be issued on receipt of submissions.
