Australia Day Awards

Is your child an exceptional sportsperson?  Do you know someone who tirelessly volunteers without seeking recognition?  Has your friend significantly contributed to the Fraser Coast region and deserves gratitude?

Celebrate their efforts by nominating them for a 2025 Australia Day Award.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said nominations are now open, and there are a range of different award categories to recognise outstanding individuals and organisations, including sports, arts and culture, and community groups.

“The awards are a great opportunity for us to come together, recognise and honour each other’s achievements and celebrate the community members who make the Fraser Coast great.

“This year we have consolidated the number of categories from twelve down to five to make it even easier for you to nominate deserving individuals and groups.

2025 Australia Day Award categories include:

  • Citizen of the Year (26 years and over)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (under 26 years)
  • Sport and Wellbeing Award (all ages)
  • Arts and Culture Award (all ages)
  • Community Group or Organisation of the Year

“A nomination is a great way to say thank you to someone who tirelessly serves our community or to celebrate a star in their chosen field.”

Nominations close on Friday, December 6, 2024.

A nominees recognition ceremony will be held on Sunday 19 January 2025 with the Australia Day Awards Presentation occurring at the Brolga Theatre on and Sunday 26 January 2025.

Nominations are open now and can be filled in online at www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/australia-day
