Fraser Coast’s award-winning water park, WetSide, will reopen for the 2024/25 season next week following a wave of winter works that have restored the popular community facility to its best condition in years.

Mayor George Seymour said Council staff and contractors had worked hard during the winter shutdown to ensure WetSide was ready for what is expected to be a busy season.

“WetSide is the perfect spot to beat the heat and have fun with something for everyone, including waterslides, a water play arena, TotSide for under 5s play and the Aqua Ninja course,” he said.

“With the September school holidays just around the corner, we’re thrilled to reopen WetSide on Wednesday 11 September, allowing families to enjoy the park at its full capacity during the break.”

Cr Seymour thanked the community for their patience during the 2023/24 season, with all the electrical work now completed to enhance the safety and reliability of the facility.

“There has been a wave of works carried out over winter, particularly at TotSide,” he said.

“There is a new water horse feature called Seabiscuit, the existing sea creatures and clam have been refurbished, interactive water features have been reinstated, and damaged decking has been replaced.

“The flooring at both Totside and the main area has been upgraded, the waterslides have been polished, new tables and chairs have been installed and the damaged boardwalk at the back of WetSide has been removed.

“As we prepare to celebrate WetSide’s 15th anniversary in December, it’s fantastic to see the park looking better than ever.”

Cr Seymour said the Aqua Ninja adventure course had been a hit since it opened in November 2022, and he expected it to be a crowd-pleaser again this season.

“The Aqua Ninja course offers nine unique challenges where participants can race against the clock in a splash-filled arena with water jets, cannons and dumpers,” he said.

Entry into WetSide is free, however there is a cost for the waterslides and Aqua Ninja. For more details, go to  https://www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/wetside-water-park
