Get ready to get your groove on!

The Fraser Coast’s favourite twilight event, Food n Groove Fridays, is making a comeback this October with a special ‘Get Ready’ edition, launching in Hervey Bay at Seafront Oval on Friday 18 October.

‘Get Ready’ is a State Government initiative aimed at helping Queenslanders prepare for summer and extreme weather events.

Attendees can meet emergency crews, learn essential disaster preparedness tips, and enjoy a sneak peek at emergency vehicles and equipment.

All this will be set against a vibrant backdrop of lively entertainment, market stalls, and a variety of delicious food options.

‘Get Ready’ Hervey Bay kicks off from 4pm at Seafront Oval on Friday 18 October.

Hervey Bay GET READY Musicians:

• 4pm Franky Busta
• 5.15pm Smooth Velvet
• 7.15pm Holy Toledo

Maryborough will also host its own ‘Get Ready’ event the following week on Friday 25 October at the Brolga Theatre Riverstage from 4pm.

Get Ready will feature local emergency and support services including the Queensland Police, Queensland Ambulance and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, SES, Ergon Energy, Red Cross and more.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said October was Get Ready Month, which meant it was time to prepare for extreme weather and protect what’s important to you.

“Have a plan, pack an emergency kit, clean up around your yard, make sure you’re covered, and sign up for Disaster Dashboard notifications,” he said.

“Come along to the Get Ready Food n Grove events in Hervey Bay or Maryborough to learn more about how to prepare while having fun with family and friends at the same time!”

As well as the 2 special ‘Get Ready’ events this year, Fraser Coast Tourism & Events will be running its iconic Food n Groove Fridays in Hervey Bay from Seafront Oval on Friday 15 November and 6 December 2024.

Food n Groove Fridays offers both visitors and locals the chance to let their hair down, eat, drink, and relax under the stars, with a large range of tasty food options, unique market stalls and live entertainment.

Kicking off from 4pm, Food n Groove Fridays is the perfect end to the working week, with something special for everyone to enjoy.

Things to remember:

• Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• No BYO alcohol—there is a bar on-site.
• Please leave your pets at home (assistance animals are exempt).
• Bring your own chairs and picnic rugs; personal shade structures are not permitted.
• There is no ATM on site. Most vendors have Eftpos available.
