Brolga Theatre Strategy

As the Brolga Theatre gears up to celebrate 25 years in 2025, Fraser Coast residents are invited to help shape the theatre’s strategic vision for the next five years.

Fraser Coast Regional Council Arts and Culture spokesperson Sara Diana Faraj said the Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre was the entertainment heart of the region, hosting national and international performances, award dinners, school formals, trade shows, and conferences of all sizes.

“The Brolga Theatre is a local icon that brings our region together, supports our cultural identity, and makes the Fraser Coast a more vibrant place to live,” she said.

“In 2023 alone, the theatre hosted nearly 100 performances with approximately 33,000 attendees, along with 350 events across its varied event spaces.

“Attendance figures reveal that 40 per cent of the audience comes from Hervey Bay, 40 per cent from Maryborough, three per cent from other parts of the Fraser Coast and 17 per cent from outside the region.

“This shows Brolga Theatre is part of the social fabric of the region, while also helping bring visitors to the Fraser Coast.

“To plan for the Brolga Theatre’s future, we are developing a strategic plan for 2025 to 2029. We encourage residents and stakeholders to share their insights and help define our priorities by reviewing the draft strategic plan and completing an online survey.”

The draft strategic plan and online survey are available on Council’s Engagement Hub website at https://frasercoast.engagementhub.com.au/brolga-strategy-2025

The survey, which is open until 5 January 2025, covers topics like performance attraction, booking preferences, and accessibility.

Community feedback will inform the final strategic plan, which is expected to be endorsed by Council in early 2025.
