Seafront Oval

Works at Seafront Oval are set to begin next week (Monday 10 February) to improve the area’s usability and sustainability.

Fraser Coast Regional Councillor Lachlan Cosgrove said the work will tackle drainage issues, improve water absorption during heavy rain, and remove weeds.

“These upgrades will ensure Seafront Oval remains a premier venue for both local and major events while continuing to be a much-loved open space for the Fraser Coast community,” he said.

“Seafront Oval is a key part of our community, offering a beautiful setting for events that bring people together and showcase the best of our region.

“It is the home of the popular Food N Groove nights and has hosted some of the Fraser Coast’s biggest events, like the Sounds of Rock concert, which drew thousands of locals and visitors to enjoy an impressive lineup of international and local artists.

“These improvements will make the oval more functional and ensure it remains a vibrant, welcoming space for years to come.”

Planned works include:

  • Applying herbicides to manage weeds;
  • Scarifying and aerating the soil to improve turf health;
  • Repairing irrigation and fertilising the grass;
  • Adding new turf and top dressing to fix drainage issues at the western end.

Access to the oval will be restricted from 03 March – 21 March with minimal disruption to car park availability throughout the duration of the project.

The upgrades are expected to be finished by 21 March 2025, weather permitting.
