Jetstar flights

Fraser Coast locals can now take advantage of Jetstar’s Takeoff More Sale, making it easier and more affordable to connect with friends and family in Melbourne and Sydney.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said starting today (Wednesday, 26 February), locals can book flights to Sydney for just $76 and Melbourne for $92.

“These flights provide an affordable option for residents with family and friends interstate, helping them stay connected. Whether it’s grandparents visiting grandchildren or loved ones reuniting more often, these fares make travel easier,” he said.

“The sale is also a fantastic opportunity for visitors from Sydney and Melbourne to experience our region’s pristine coastal beauty, boosting local businesses and our tourism industry.

“The sale includes four travel periods, with flights available from April 2025 through to January 2026, offering flexibility for holidaymakers, families and business travellers.

In partnership with Fraser Coast Regional Council, Jetstar launched three weekly flights from Melbourne to Hervey Bay in June 2024, providing over 1,100 low-cost seats per week on this route.

“Combined with four weekly Jetstar flights between Sydney and Hervey Bay, up to 3,800 passengers can now travel across both routes each week,” said Cr Seymour.

“Hervey Bay Airport has had a strong start to the year, with a record 21,742 passengers arriving and departing to explore the Fraser Coast.

In addition to direct flights to Melbourne and Sydney, Hervey Bay Airport offers regular commercial services to K’gari, Brisbane and Lady Elliot Island, which saw 24,000 passengers fly in and out last year.

Fraser Coast Tourism and Events CEO, Martin Simons said strong demand for Jetstar’s flights reflects the region’s growing popularity.

“Now marketed as the whale watching capital of Australia, the Fraser Coast offers stunning beaches, a paradise for boaties, wreck and reef diving and incredible big nature experiences, making it a perfect getaway,” he said.

“These flights are a huge boost for our tourism industry, opening the door for more people to discover the world heritage listed K’gari (Fraser Island), the best whale watching in the calm waters of the bay, and all the other fantastic attractions and experiences we have here on the Fraser Coast including the major heritage assets of Maryborough.”

Jetstar currently flies between Hervey Bay and Melbourne every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and Sydney, every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
