Dogs Day Out returns with expanded desexing rebate
Pet lovers of the Fraser Coast, mark April in your calendars! Dogs Day Out is returning to Maryborough and Council is expanding its desexing rebate for a limited time.
Local businesses providing pet products or experiences can be part of the event by submitting an Expression of Interest form on Fraser Coast Regional Council’s website by Friday, March 21 - www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/dogs-day-out
Cr Michelle Byrne said to coincide with the upcoming Dogs Day Out on Sunday April 13, Council is expanding the desexing rebate, offering all residents a $100 rebate for desexing their dog or cat throughout April.
“The reimbursement is normally only available to Queensland concession card holders, but for the month of April we’re making it available to everyone as part of our commitment to responsible pet ownership,” she said.
“Desexing has many benefits, including reducing unwanted litters, roaming, and aggressive behaviour, as well as lowering the risk of health issues.
“To secure discounted desexing and save $100, book your pet in with the vet early to avoid missing out.
“Having a dog brings great joy, but it also comes with responsibilities like desexing, vaccinations, registration, exercise, training, and more.”
Cr Daniel Sanderson said the Dogs Day Out event at Granville’s Brendan Hansen Park on Sunday April 13, is a fantastic opportunity for pet owners to learn more about responsible dog ownership, access free microchipping, and register their dog for free for the first time.
“This is a paw-some day to celebrate our furry friends, socialise our dogs and enjoy a fun day out with the whole family,” he said.
“There will be market stalls showcasing pet products, pet care information, along with prizes for the best-dressed dog, best dog trick, and an owner look-alike competition.”
Residents who want to take advantage of the $100 desexing rebate during April can download an application form from Council’s website - https://www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/responsible-pet-ownership
‘Dogs Day Out’ will take place at Brendan Hansen Park, Maryborough from 8am to midday on Sunday April 13, with a Hervey Bay event planned for October.
