Targeted kerbside collection of disaster waste in Hervey Bay
A targeted kerbside collection of disaster waste will take place in storm-affected areas of Hervey Bay starting Monday, 17 March 2025.
The Queensland Fire Department and State Emergency Service (SES) have been assessing damage in the hardest-hit areas following the severe weather on the weekend, with assessments continuing today.
Register for collection
Residents and businesses requiring a kerbside collection are asked to please register with Council by calling 1300 79 49 29 by close of business Friday 21 March.
This will help us understand the demand and the amount of waste that needs to be removed.
How to prepare your waste
To assist with collection, please place waste neatly and separate items rather than piling everything together.
Sort items into these categories:
- Garden organics
- Scrap metal & white goods
- Mattresses
- Furniture & general household items
- Electronic waste
- Concrete, bricks & masonry
- General demolition waste
Do NOT put out asbestos-containing materials.
Spoiled or spoilable food waste should go in your general waste bin (red lid).
FREE Waste Disposal Option
In the meantime, disaster waste can be dropped off for free at the Nikenbah Waste Facility until close of business Sunday 23 March.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to clean up our community.
