Solar panels, archival shelving, crime prevention initiatives and field lighting upgrades are among the projects supported under the latest round of Fraser Coast Regional Council’s Community Grants Program.

A total of $59,091.61 will be distributed to 11 successful applicants, ensuring continued investment in local groups that support and enrich the Fraser Coast community.

Communities spokesperson Cr Phil Truscott said the funding program helped strengthen the region’s cultural, recreational, and community services.

“Our community grants provide much-needed financial assistance to grassroots organisations that make a real difference in our region,” Cr Truscott said.

“This round will support projects ranging from heritage preservation and sporting infrastructure upgrades to crime prevention initiatives and events that bring people together. It’s fantastic to see such a broad cross-section of the community benefiting from this funding.”

The successful applicants and their funded projects are:

  • Yoorana Women's Domestic Violence and Resource Service Inc – $3,000 for the Second Life Project, supporting survivors of domestic violence.
  • Maryborough Wide Bay & Burnett Historical Society Inc. – $8,082.88 for new archival shelving to preserve historical records.
  • Point Lookout Croquet Club Inc – $5,000 for the installation of solar panels to improve sustainability.

Cr Truscott said the grants program helped community groups bring their projects to life, with funding allocated across four rounds each financial year.

"By supporting these initiatives, we’re fostering a more connected and inclusive community, whether that’s through sporting clubs, historical preservation, environmental sustainability, or social events," he said.
