Range of Council grants schemes open this month

With less than 150 days to Christmas, now is the time for community groups to apply for a Fraser Coast Regional Council grant.

“A number of grants are open for community groups to stage events, festive season (Christmas and New Year) events and for festive season decorations for our smaller townships,” Cr Paul Truscott said.

“Changes to the guidelines that were introduced to make it easier for groups to gain a grant in recognition of the effects of COVID-19 have been maintained.

“In recognition that fund-raising efforts have been hampered and membership numbers may have declined because of COVID-19, Council has lowered the amount of cash or in-kind contribution a group has to put towards a project to qualify for a grant.

“We want to make sure clubs, groups and communities continue to function and provide the range of events and facilities that make the Fraser Coast such a vibrant, fun and safe community.”

Grants opening in August:

• Community Events – Round 1 opens 13 August, closes 17 September;
• Community Festive (Christmas and New Year’s Eve) – Opens 13 August, closes 17 September;
• Small Township Festive Decorations – Opens 13 August, closes 17 September;
• Community Environment – Opens 16 August, closes 27 May 2022;
• Sport and Recreation Capital Assistance – Opens 27 August, closes 24 September.

Council’s Community Grants officer is available to assist groups to develop and submit applications to the Community Grants Program.
