Computers donated to burrum community mens shed 600

President of the Burrum District Community Men’s Shed John Laffin checks out the club’s two new recycled computers with Fraser Coast Regional Council IT technician Lila Sternfels.

Museums across the region will be able to update the information on their collections and clubs will be able to better serve the community thanks to a donation of computers from the Fraser Coast Regional Council.

“Council is donating 41 computers to local community groups and sporting clubs this year,” Councillor Paul Truscott said.

“The computers were to be replaced as part of our annual systems upgrade, and normally would be sold to a refurbishing company where they are wiped clean and sold on.

“The computer donation is part of Council’s community grants program.

“It’s about ensuring community groups and sporting clubs are able to meet the needs of their members, and that they can grow to provide the facilities and services needed to ensure we have an active, vibrant community on the Fraser Coast.”

Groups to receive the computers include:

  • Maryborough and District Family History Society;
  • Hervey Bay Army Cadet Unit;
  • Burrum District Community Men’s Shed;
  • Maryborough Military Museum;
  • Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club;
  • Hervey Bay Swim Club;
  • Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum;
  • Hervey Bay Special School and
  • Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre.
