6PM Update - Resources, Stay out of flood water and CBD

Back

Council is urging everyone to please stay out of the Maryborough CBD.
Please refrain from sight-seeing in flood affected areas for our own safety and to prevent traffic congestion that can hamper relief and clean up measures.
Please do not venture out unless it is essential.

STAY OUT OF FLOOD WATERS - For your own safety, please stay out of flood waters and away from flooded bridges.

Evacuation Centre: Brolga Theatre - 5 Walker Street, Maryborough. Please bring your own medical supplies, toiletries and blankets to the Brolga if you can.

Granville

  • Wide Bay Hospital & Health Service has also set up a small base at the Hockey Grounds in Granville to deal with emergencies as they arise. The base is not a clinic and should only be accessed in an emergency.
  • Queensland Ambulance Service has deployed an ambulance and two officers to Granville to deal with emergencies.
  • While there is no immediate issue, Council is urging Granville residents to prepare for a possible loss of water supply by filling containers with enough water for drinking and cooking for at least two days. A sink hole on the Maryborough side of the Mary River has exposed the main water supply pipeline to Granville. If the erosion continues and the pipe is compromised or damaged, the main may need to be isolated.
We are working through the Local Disaster Management Group on emergency supply options such as portable water treatment plants and bottled water should the water supply be interrupted. Urgent emergency repairs may need to be carried out once flood waters recede. The rest of the Maryborough water network remains unaffected and is fully operational.
