QLD POLICE UPDATE - 11 Jan 2022 - 10.33am - Emergency Declaration Revoked - View here

The Maryborough CBD will be open to vehicles once the traffic lights are reconnected to power.

Ergon will reconnect the CBD traffic lights progressively during the day provided it is safe to do so.

Council and the Queensland Police Service met this morning and have revoked the Emergency Declaration and Exclusion Zone now that the CBD streets are clear of floodwater.

At present there are no restrictions to pedestrians accessing the CBD, but pedestrians should avoid flood affected surrounding streets while the clean-up and recovery work is underway.

While the Maryborough CBD will open for vehicles, the following streets surrounding the CBD will remain closed for flood clean-up and recovery work.

• Lower Wharf St,

• Lower Kent St,

• Kent St, from Johns St to Lennox St,

• Lennox St, from Kent St to the Brolga Theatre,

• Sussex St, from Kent St to Adelaide St

Businesses are encouraged to start trading as soon as it is safe to do so. Members of Council’s Economic Development Team will be in the CBD again today talking with business operators about access to recovery packages and services.

Fraser Coat Mayor, George Seymour thanked Council staff, staff from other agencies and volunteers who had worked tirelessly around the clock to hold flood waters back and undertake recovery work. Their efforts will ensure that businesses can recover from the flood as quickly as possible.
